Heyyyyyyyy!
Remember this? I barely do.
A decade and a half ago, I started this blog to pay tribute to my favorite era of music. And I knew there were people who loved the same music I did. Maybe dozens of us.
And while writing the blog, I wished I could hear all of this music, on a regular basis. The radio stations here played some of what was quickly becoming throwback/retro, but it was nowhere near the frequency or depth that I wanted.
The Lithium channel on SiriusXM was also an option, except it wasn't because of the fee and because that station kinda sucks. The playlists were embarrassingly limited.
I wanted more. And I realized the only way to get it was to do it myself.
It took more than a few years, and a lot of learning, but... in early 2022, I finally achieved my dream and 90s? Whatever. premiered on Spotify. It was exactly the thing I'd wanted to hear: 90s alternative music of all levels of popularity, mixed in with irreverent nostalgia of the era.
Over time, the show actually gained an audience. Even people I didn't know!
And right when the show was starting to do really well, the heavy foot of capitalism stomped upon us, and Spotify ended their Music+Talk format. Fuck them forever.
BUT, much like in my head, the 90s would never end. The show found a new home on Mixcloud, where it's been thriving, even without the user base of Spotify.
So, if you somehow stumble upon this, check us out: 90s? Whatever. on Mixcloud.
In the interim, I'll re-learn how to use this page or maybe move it or who knows? Who cares?
Whatever.
